Pressure Cooker Hot Onion Dip is a super delicious Low Carb, Keto, Gluten Free Appetizer. It is so addictive, I thought about calling this Crack Hot Onion Dip.

Have you ever put something into your mouth and said, oh my gosh, this is the best thing I have ever tasted?

Well, this Pressure Cooker Hot Onion Dip is going to be one of the best things you ever tasted.

This recipe started out as a Hot Onion Cheesy Bread Bowl.

After deciding to start a Low Carb Diet, this recipe jumped out to me as a great option for Low Carb and Keto diets.

It’s even easier to make in the Instant Pot or Pressure Cooker. Win-win!

The ingredients are few.

What ingredients do I need for Low Carb Hot Onion Dip?

  • Philadelphia Cream Cheese
  • Full Fat Mayonnaise
  • Swiss Cheese
  • Onion

For those watching their fat intake. I have made this recipe using low fat Mayonnaise.

It was horrible.

Well, not horrible, but the full fat Dip is so much better.

Another yummy recipe for a Low Carb diet is my Pressure Cooker Bruschetta Chicken with Zoodles .

Use a Food Processor for Cheese and Onion

Use a Food Processor for Cheese and Onion

You can easily  use your Food Processor to grate the Onions and the Cheese. I would not use the Food Processor to incorporate the Cream Cheese and the Mayonnaise with the Onions and Cheese.

It’s nice to have texture from the Onions in the Pressure Cooker Hot Onion Dip.

As an aside – Grab a block of Swiss Cheese, rather than a bag of already grated Swiss Cheese.

It tastes much better from a block as there are no added chemicals to the block.

Some companies add a powder to make sure the strands of cheese stay separate.

I use my Food Processor as much as possible to save on prep time.

A hand grater will also work for the Swiss Cheese.

You can also use a Sharp Knife for the Onions and the Swiss Cheese.

Drain Onions and Mix all Ingredients Together

How do you make a Low Carb, Keto Hot Onion Dip?

  • Simple.
  • Start out with room temperature Cream Cheese.
  • Shred some Swiss Cheese. Shred or chop your Onions. Mix it all together.

If you have used the Food Processor to slice the Onions, you will end up with some water.

If you decide to chop by hand, you won’t have that issue.

Add the ingredients to a 1.5 quart Mixing Bowl, if you like. This is the same Mixing Bowl, that I recommend for Pot in Pot cooking for Steel Cut Oats, re-heating soup, such as my Low Carb Pressure Cooker Americana Wedding Soup and more.

As I like to divide up the dip and pop it in the Air Fryer to brown the top, I just cook the dip, right in the mixing bowl. Otherwise, I cook a double batch in my French White Casserole Dish.

Use a Spatula or Spoon and mix everything together until fully incorporated.

Tightly Cover the Mixing Bowl

Tightly Cover the Mixing Bowl

If you plan to serve right in the Casserole Dish, then feel free to cook it right in the Casserole Dish or other Ovensafe dish.

Since I did half a recipe (I usually double this recipe for company), I chose to cook the Hot Onion Dip right in the Mixing Bowl.

Otherwise, I would use my French White 1.5 Quart Casserole Dish.

Remove the Hot Onion Dip from Pressure Cooker

Remove the Hot Onion Dip from Pressure Cooker

The Pressure Cooker Hot Onion Dip is delicious right out of the Pressure Cooker, as is.

Give it a good mix, before tasting, as the Onions may have settled in the bottom.

I do like to put mine in my Air Fryer to bubble and brown the top.

Place Dish in Air Fryer

Place Dish in Air Fryer

To help lift out the Serving Dish, make a Foil Sling.

The Air Fryer is perfect for quickly browning the top of the Pressure Cooker Hot Onion Dip.

You can use an Oven if you don’t have an Air Fryer.

Instant Pot Hot Onion Dip

I seriously could eat this with a spoon!

Pork Rinds are great for dipping, I’m told. Personally, I don’t like Pork Rinds , but I am trying, since they make a great snack for a Low Carb and Keto diet..

Chop up your favorite vegetables and dip away!

For another delicious Low Carb and Keto Drip, try my Low Carb Pasta de Bocaditos Jamón {Cuban Ham Spread} recipe. It is super simple and great for parties and snacking.

Love onions but not a fan of Swiss cheese. What mild cheese could I substitute?
    Thanks

I dont care for swiss cheese either, but I do use it when it’s going to be melted. I think it takes on a whole new (non swiss cheese) taste.

I made this as an appetizer for a dinner party last night, and it was a big hit. I followed the recipe exactly, as I usually do the first time I made something. If I were to make it again, I might add a little Frank’s buffalo wing sauce or some type of pepper to kick it up a notch. Cooking it under pressure and finishing it in the oven was both efficient and effective. Thanks for the recipe!
