Low Carb Air Fryer Radish Hash Browns are Keto Friendly and seriously delicious. Replace Hash Brown Potatoes with these healthy gems.

Low Carb Air Fryer Radish Hash Browns

Low Carb Air Fryer Radish Hash Browns

So, I have been blogging for almost two years.

My weight is suffering for it, so I have decided to cook more Low Carb recipes and watch my calorie intake over all.

I’ve never been one to eat tons of Fried Foods, as I don’t like greasy stuff; I just eat too much of good food and that  puts on weight.

However, using my Air Fryer, has opened up a whole new World of yummy food.

These Air Fryer Radish Hash Browns are such a great substitute for New York Style Coffee Shop Home Fries.

When Radishes are cooked, they lose their bitter taste.

The spiciness also goes away and they seem to take on a totally different flavor.

Some of my other Low Carb recipes are my Pressure Cooker Americana Wedding Soup, Deviled Egg Salad Roll Ups, Pressure Cooker Picadillo Stuffed Delicata Squash, Spaghetti Squash and Meat Sauce, to name a few.

A huge percentage of my recipes are also naturally Gluten Free. Check them out!

I switch back and forth between my Homemade Seasoning and a mix of just few.

What are the Ingredients to Radish Hash Browns/Home Fries?

  • Radishes
  • Pink Himalayan Salt
  • Freshly Ground Peppercorns
  • Garlic Power
  • Granulated Onion Powder
  • Paprika
  • TOG Homemade House Seasoning (can be used in lieu of above seasonings)
  • Coconut Oil or
  • Grapeseed Oil

Slice the Radishes and Onions

Slice the Radishes and Onions

You will need a Food Processor, I recommend the Cuisinart Large Food Processor or a Nicer Dicer Veggie and Food Slicer to slice up the Radishes and Onions.

The Onions can be hand sliced, if desired, but you might cut off a finger if you try to slice all these Radishes with just a knife.

Perfectly Cut Veggies!

Perfectly Cut Veggies!

My Food Processor does a really nice job. I like to leave a bit of the green tops on the Radishes, as they look so pretty.

My husband hates Radishes. I am not a fan of raw either.

He wouldn’t even taste the Radishes that are in my Pressure Cooker Americana Wedding Soup.

🙁  He did eat everything else in the Soup though and loved it. He is so picky. He did love my Pressure Cooker Chinese Hot & Sour Soup, which is also Low Carb, Keto and Gluten Free.

Add the Coconut Oil

Add the Coconut Oil

Dump the Radishes and Onions into a Mixing Bowl.

Add the Oil of your choice.

I used Coconut Oil here. It is great for Air Frying, as it has a high smoke factor.

Your Air Fryer won’t start to smoke with Coconut Oil. Grapeseed Oil, Ghee, Olive Oil, all work well.

If you have a good Oil Mister, like my favorite, the Olive Oil Sprayer / Mister for Cooking, spray the Radishes and Onions generously.

Prepare the Air Fryer

Prepare the Air Fryer

When I am cooking something like these Air Fryer Radish Hash Browns, I always make sure to rub Coconut Oil all over the Basket.

For recipes like my Air Fryer Cleo Hollywood Brussels Sprouts, you don’t need to Oil the Air Fryer Basket.

Spread the Radishes and Onions

Spread the Radishes and Onions

Dump the Radishes and Onions in the Air Fryer.

Spread them out as evenly as you can.

I’m using my gorgeous new Red, Ultrean 8.5 Quart Air Fryer, so there is plenty of room to do multiple batches at once!

Place the Radishes and Onions Back into Mixing Bowl

Place the Radishes and Onions Back into Mixing Bowl

You can certainly just add the seasonings right into the Air Fryer Basket, if you like.

I prefer to pour the Radishes and Onions back into the Oiled Mixing Bowl.

Mix in the Seasonings

Mix in the Seasonings

The Mixing Bowl will still have the Coconut Oil in it, so mix the Radishes and Onions around a bit.

Add in the Seasonings and mix together well.

Now that the Radishes and Onions are nice and soft, we will cook them at a higher temperature to caramelized them, which will add sweetness.

If you cook them at a high temperature from the beginning, they will dry out and become too crispy, like Chips.

Caramelized and not Dried Out

Caramelized and not Dried Out

You can see that the Onions and Radishes still have some moisture in them and are also a bit caramelized.

The bitter and spicy flavor of the Radish is gone and they take on a very nice flavor.

I’d explain the flavor if I could think of what it is, but I can’t seem to verbalize the flavor.

They are really good. You won’t miss your Air Fryer Greasy Spoon Home Fries, if you are low carbing it.

However, as a treat, try my Air Fryer Greasy Spoon Home Fries, just to compare.

Eggs and Air Fryer Radish Hash Browns

Eggs and Air Fryer Radish Hash Browns

This is a perfect Low Carb, Keto Breakfast.

The Sunny Side Up Eggs and the Air Fryer Radish Hash Browns have lots of protein, vitamins and nourishment.

The Hubs actually did end up tasting these Air Fryer Radish Home Fries and then “tasted” some more.

Hello, these look good. Are there instructions for oven cooking since we don’t have an air fryer?

Would these work with the Mealthy lid, or do you. Need an actual air fryer? Would I just do one layer covering the bottom at a time?

Yes, they would work using any air fryer. Jill

If you’re using the Mealthy air fryer lid on you Instant Pot ( I have 6 and 8 quart) how many batches would I need to do? Or do you need an actual air fryer.

I have been doing Keto for a couple of years. I’ve been pan frying dikon radishes in butter, bacon bits and chopped onions for a while now to simulate the fried potatoes my mom wound make for my dad when I was a kid on the farm. I am thinking about purchasing an air fryer and have been looking at recipes. Yours caught my eye and I am interested in trying this. I thought you might like the clue about the dikon radish as it is a long large white radish root (it can be over an inch thick and up to about 9 inches long). I buy them in the ethnic foods section of WINCO. You might find it in an Asian Grocery Food Mart if you don’t have a WINCO in your area. It might be nice to add it with a few of the red radishes for a different look and a change.

We like to use daikon radish. I live in a very international area and can get any type of ingredient or food. There are tons of Asian markets around; Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Korean, Japanese, etc. It’s so nice! Jill

April, have you tried this recipe with daikon radishes? I happened to pick one up out of curiosity and was looking for recipes to try. Thanks, JoAnn

I’m wondering if I could do the first phase in the microwave while I’m using the air fryer for something else?

These were amazing! Thanks for the recipe! My wife had no idea they were radishes. I used butter instead of oil and shallots instead of regular onions. So good.

In order to get my radishes and onions cooked as much as they are in the picture, I had to do the 5 minutes on 400 degrees three more times. I have the 5.3 at. Power XL and its done fine on all the other recipes I’ve tried. They tasted GREAT!
