Instant Pot Steamed Clams in Wine Garlic Butter is Low Carb, Keto and Gluten free, it is seriously delicious and so easy to make.
There is/was a little restaurant in Miami, called Captain’s Tavern.
On Tuesday night, the special was two, one pound Maine Lobsters for like $10.
Another special, or maybe just a regular menu item was a big bowl of Steamed Ipswich Baby Clams. The Yummy White Wine, Garlic Butter sauce is first cooked on the stove and reduced a bit, to get a full and big flavor.
Making Instant Pot Steamed Clams in Wine Garlic Butter in the Instant Pot, Ninja Foodi or Pressure Cooker, is super easy and they are ready in no time!

What are Ipswich Clams?
- The Ipswich Clams come from the Edge of Cape Ann.
- They are found on the East Coast, from Maine to North Carolina.
- They can also be found, as far as Great Britain!
- They have a longer neck and are the clams used for Fried Clams.
- Any type of Clams will work in this recipe. I used Australian Cockless this time.
That was one of my favorite things to eat there, along with a Baked Potato. My dad and I ate there often.
Radishes take the place of potatoes and are delicious and juicy.
At the Redondo Pier, there are a couple of open air, fresh seafood restaurants and we almost always get the Lobster and Clams. After choosing the seafood, you then move down the counter and choose how you want the food to be cooked.
Since we love the white wine garlic butter sauce, I came up with this Instant Pot Steamed Clams Wine Garlic Butter recipe for the Instant Pot, Ninja Foodi or Pressure Cooker, which is equally as good.
Another Seafood favorite of ours, is my Pressure Cooker Seafood Corn Chowder recipe.
Always remember to heat up your Instant Pot, Ninja Foodi or Pressure Cooker, before adding in a Fat.
Doing so, will make your stainless steel cooking pot, non stick!
Make sure to use a good spatula which will withstand high heat.
Since the Clams have such a short cook time, I wanted to make sure the Radishes cooked enough.
Not only that, if you cut the Radishes in half and Sauté them, all the yummy Wine, Garlic and Butter will infuse and make the Radishes super delicious.
The flavor is not really like a Potato, but satisfies the taste buds. It is more like a Parsnip or young Turnip/Carrot, kinda, sorta. It’s good really.
I promise you that the Radish loses the bitter and spicy flavor, when cooked.
Add in some White Wine and cook down the liquid a bit.
This will cook out much of the alcohol and leave you with a really nice flavor.
The aroma of the Fresh Garlic, Butter and Wine will be so yummy at this stage.
Making this Pressure Cooker Steamed Clams in White Wine Garlic Butter, eliminates the worry.
Plus, it saves over $50 from eating out!
My Pressure Cooker Americana Wedding Soup uses radishes too and is super delicious.
The Australian Cockless are really pretty, aren’t they? I love the colors.
I’ve done this Pressure Cooker Steamed Clams in White Wine Garlic Butter Sauce with and without my Homemade Old Bay Seasoning.
It is great both ways. Try it both ways and let me know which you prefer.
If you enjoy using my Homemade Old Bay Seasoning, have you tried it on my Air Fryer Crispy Old Bay Chicken Wings yet? Or my Pressure Cooker Seafood Stew?
The days at the Redondo Pier are tons of fun. The air is always fresh with Salt Water and the ocean breeze is always a pleasure.
However, in the cooler months, l like to make my own Pressure Cooker Steamed Clams in White Wine Garlic Butter right in my Instant Pot!
If you are not following a Low Carb Diet, you can add in some Baby Potatoes and make Pressure Cooker Syracuse Salt Potatoes at the same time. But don’t add all that Salt.
Also, a nice loaf of this Instant Pot Dutch Oven Crusty Bread is delicious to sop up the juice. For Low Carbers, I don’t know, maybe drink the juice. Just kidding. Homemade Low Carb Bread recipes are on the horizon.

Just tried this recipe with little neck clams, baby potatoes, and an Un-Oaked Chardonnay for Father’s Day and my husband loved it.
Jill Selkowitz says
Hi Kathy. I am so thrilled this went over so well for Father’s Day! Thank you. Jill
Melissa says
Made this tonight, no potato or radishes, but was very good! Thanks!

YOUR RECIPE LISTS FRESH LEMON AS AN INGREDIENT, BUT I DONT SEE ANYTHING IN THE DIRECTIONS THAT MENTIONS USING IT. IS IT JUST TO SQUEEZE OVER IT WHEN SERVING? OR AM I BLIND AND JUST NOT SEEING WHERE YOU MENTION ITS USE?
Amy says
Jill, I think you meant cockles, right? Not cockless!!! Ouch!!!
Susan B. says
Can regular, store bought (supermarket) radishes be used? I don’t know what they’re called?
Jill says
Yes, that is what I used. Jill
Melissa Orbe says
these are definitely clams. mussels have elongated shells and are very dark/black/silver in color. Yes, they have two distinct flavors.
Marlene Risch says
Can INSUBSTITUTE OLIVE OIL FOR ALL OR PART OF THE BUTTER?
Karey says
Your pictures look like mussels to me. My favorite restaurant closed with a large bowl of muscles under $12. I miss so much. I’ve not googled it. Do I look for clams or muscles. Is there a big difference?
Melissa Orbe says

Rachel says
Can you use frozen clams?
Jill says
Yes, Rachel. Jill

Hi, This might be a silly question but I’m new to the Instant Pot revolution. Before adding fat, how do you heat up your Instant Pot? Specifically what buttons do you press?
Barbara says
When you turn the IP on, push the SAUTE button and then push the ADJUST button. This button allows you to select the degree of heat. LESS, NORMAL, or MORE. You want to push the ADJUST button until the little red light appears under MORE. Wait until it says HOT before putting your oils/butters in. Good luck!

I don’t see any garlic listed in ingredients. How much to use?
