I wasn’t planning on making a blog post for this sandwich. I was hungry, it was lunch time and I wanted a simple Grilled American Cheese Sandwich and wanted to play around with my new
toy Air Fryer. There was no thought, really. I have been testing out the GoWise USA 3.7 Quart Air Fryer and have been trying out various types of food and cooking methods.

We stopped buying bread in this house, as commercial bread is made so quickly in a factory and many people believe they are gluten intolerant, as a result of the feeling they get after eating commercial bread. I don’t use commercial yeast in most of the bread I make and prefer natural fermentation, Sourdough Starter.
All I did was butter one side of the bread and throw some cheese in between. We keep our bread frozen, so it is easier to butter. There is really not as much as it looks like on the bread. The butter was quite cold and not spreading. I probably used 1/2 a teaspoon.
Into the air fryer it went for 8 minutes.
That’ll be it folks! Quick lunch, melty, toasted perfectly. Enjoy!
Here is the handy printable recipe (not that you’ll need it):
- 2 slices Bread
- 2-3 slices American Cheese
- 2 teaspoons Butter
- Place cheese between bread slices and butter the outside of both slices of bread.
- Place in air fryer and cook at 370 degrees for 8 minutes. Flip, halfway through.
