Air Fryer Hard Cooked Eggs
I know, weird huh?
Or is it????
That’s right!, you can make Hard “Boiled” Eggs right in your Air Fryer.
Well, without the water, hence the name, Air Fryer Hard Cooked Eggs.
My first post about cooking Eggs is my Pressure Cooker Hard Boiled Eggs post. It took the Instant Pot and Pressure Cooking groups by storm. I think everyone does their Eggs my way now.
Another fun way to make Hard Cooked/Boiled Eggs is to crack them into a pan with my Egg Loaf Method! This method is great for make Potato Salad or Egg Salad.
But, Air Fryers are so popular and I just had to do some Hard Boiled Eggs in my Air Fryer.
My Air Fryer Hard Cooked Eggs recipe/method is just as easy as my Instant Pot and Pressure Cooker methods, as in this recipe, like the others, there is no need for an ice bath or a cool water bath!!!!
All you need is a Trivet and some Fresh Large Eggs.
I just used the Trivet that came with my Instant Pot Pressure Cooker.
There is actually a Trivet, designed for Eggs. It’s great…I just could not find mine today.
Pile up as many Eggs as you like and you are good to go!
While they are cooking, you can go about your business, as there is no watching.
Another really easy and healthy recipe for the Air Fryer is my Air fryer Cleo Hollywood Brussels Sprouts.
The Eggs will finish up the cooking process, during the cool down period, after their time in the Air Fryer.
Alternatively, if you want, you can add another minute to the cook time, pull them out of the Air Fryer and then place them in an ice bath. But really, what’s the point? That just takes more effort, another bowl to wash and the total time to eat eggs is the same anyway!
The shells peel off so easily.
One of my favorite Air Fryer recipes is my Air Fryer Chinese Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings.
I also love my Air Fryer Fried Zucchini with Apricot Sauce. Check out the blog for more delicious recipes. There are over a hundred really yummy recipes.
So sorry about my lighting. I have no idea why the photos are so poorly lit for this recipe shoot.

I’ve been using this “recipe” for at least 2 years now. One of these days I’ll bookmark the recipe or just remember the temp and time to make them but until then I will google “hard boiled eggs no ice bath” to get back to this site like I do every time 😆

Hi Liz. Thanks. 🙂 Jill

The lowest my air fryer goes is 300. I’m shortening time to 10 minutes. We shall see…
Melissa Harlow says
How long would you cook for soft cooked eggs?
Rosslynn says
I have a Ninja Air fryer and used the reheat @ 270 (lowest it goes). Put in 4 at 13mins. Pull them out for 10 mins and still hot. Put them in ice bath for another 10 and they came out good. Maybe next time I will try 12 mins.
Alan says
When you say cook on 260 is that Fahrenheit or Celsius?????
My air fryer only goes to 200. Did eggs on 200 for 13 ,minutes one exploded & other burnt
Alan says
My last post should have said cook not cool
Alan says
When you say cool at 230. Is that C or F

Can you do hard boiled eggs in a air fryer oven if so how
Nicole says
Is it preferable to take the eggs out of the airfryer after the 10 min cool down or ok to leave them in till you can handle them? I left mine in longer and still too hot to hold. Put them in carton and still hot minutes later. Then put them on the counter till cool. They came out great. Wondering if I could’ve just left them in the airfryer till fully cooled.
Jill says
Hi Nicole. Leaving them in the air fryer would over cook them. If you wanted to do that however, reduce the cook time by a few minutes. Jill

When I tried the hard cooked eggs, it was the first time I’d used my air fryer for anything other than popcorn chicken, tater tots, onion rings, or cheese sticks. And, wow, was I pleasantly surprised! This method will most likely become my “go to” way of cooking hard cooked eggs (and I even have a handy dandy electric egg cooker). I wish I could find one of those egg trivets you mentioned that would fit a small air fryer.
Thanks for sharing this fantastic kitchen tip!

Thank you so much. Jill
Martha Massie says
You can find small round silicone trivets here Stainless Steel Tall/Short Trivet & Egg Cooker Set. I bought a set that fit perfectly in the small airfryer.

Will this still work in the Copper Chef Shelf style Airfry/ Dehydrator one?
Sheryl Vance says
Put in five eggs, and within three minutes two exploded! Took the rest out immediately, and cooked them the rest of the way on the stove. Bad idea!
Karen says
I have been making hard “boiled” eggs in my airfryer since the day I bought it and I have never had an egg explode. I personally do 250 degrees for 18 minutes for XL eggs.
David says
Worked great with my air fryer. I did 6 eggs and added 3 minutes to make sure they’re done (I won’t eat under-cooked eggs). They came out perfect though and boiling eggs for too long when using water never seemed to harm them either (aside from the green ring around the yolk from the sulfur, but that’s harmless). These eggs didn’t have the green ring around them in the air fryer though. (Oh yeah, after reading the comments, I did the 17 minutes plus 3 minutes for a total of 20 minutes and they came out perfect, so I wouldn’t worry about over cooking them).
Jill says
What a great comment filled with lovely suggestions. Thank you, David!!! Jill
Cady Shepard says
To be clear, are you saying to wait 5-10 minutes after the initial cooking time to take them out of the AF?
Terry Pogue says
I must try the air fried hard cooked eggs. Are they as easy to peel as the pressure cooked hard cooked eggs?
Sheila says
I am a novice at air fryer I just found out my ninja fryer the lowest it goes is 300, what do I do now since all recipes show 240–260 for hard boiled eggs or other recipes for that matter.need info on how to work with this thank you
Jill says
I haven’t tried that temperature. Jill
Kay Kearly says
Sheila, my AF also only goes down to 300, but I do eggs at that temperature, and they turn out great. I cook them for 13-14 minutes depending on the size.
Jill says
Thank you for responding Kay. I am weeks behind with my responses. Jill
christine says
how many quarts is yours? mine is 1.4
Barb says
If you use the ‘reheat’ button on the Ninja, you can go lower than 300°.

You have improved my life with this comment.

This sounds great! We boil eggs weekly! Could you clarify one thing – is cook time 13 or 17 minutes? Top of recipe “cook time” states 17 minutes and then Instructions state “cook at 260 degrees for 13”. Thank you for a great alternative to boiling. I can’t wait to try!
Jill says
Tasha, it is 13 minutes. Jill
Vivien Tan says
I made Jill’s Air Fryer Hard Cooked Eggs and they turned out great!!!!
Merry N. says
I don’t have a trivet made of silicone or stainless steel. 🙁
Can I still make my eggs in the air fryer? I have wooden trivets, also I have bamboo skewers, could I possibly use those?
Mae says
I’m wondering the same thing. Anyone know what use if I don’t have a metal or silicone trivet?
Martha Massie says
Just buy this Stainless Steel Tall/Short Trivet & Egg Cooker Set. I purchased small ones for my small airfryer. They are not expensive.
Sue R says
Thanks for this. Any idea on how long for soft boiled or do you think it’s not possible? They are my favourite way to eat eggs. Hard boiled will be great for when I make eggs salad or sandwiches etc though.
