This sauce is so good. I’ve made it several times. I double the recipe now and keep it in the fridge so when I’m feeling lazy I can whip up an easy tofu-veggie lunch that isn’t boring. I was skeptical. I hate bottled sauce and even some restaurant sauces (I also lived in San Fran and take out here is just not the same. Too one note-sweet.) This is so much more complex. Just like I remember getting in the Bay Area. Its been years. Thank you so much! I’ve also subbed apple cider vinger in a pinch and it’s still delicious.

More of a question:
I leave 25 miles from a grocery store. Need some sweet and sour sauce. Your recipe is what I’m looking for but I have no rice vinegar. Is reg. White or apple vinegar a substitute possibility or not?
Jill says
Tami, use apple cider vinegar. Jill

This was delicious. I can’t believe how easy it was. I made it less time than ordering take-out. All the commercial stuff is just sweet on sweet. I agree with Ramona, I’ll never buy bottled again. Thank you!
