Air Fryer Pita Pizza is a quick 6 minute method for delicious cheese pizza. Top with pepperoni, onions, garlic or any of your favorites.
Looks so good, doesn’t it? It’s not reeeeallly pizza, but, hey, when you have a hankering and want it fast. It’s good, really good. You may be wondering why, if I already make a really good pizza, what is up with this recipe. Well, while I do love my homemade, wonderful delicious Classic Margherita Pizza, there is also room for this Air Fryer 6 Minute Pita Bread Cheese Pizza.
I mean, it’s like really good man. From passing thought in the head to plate in like 10 minutes…what’s not to love? Plus, not everyone is interested in making Pizza Dough by scratch.
A perfect after lunch snack, which the kids will love. Adults love Air Fryer Pita Pizza too.

Ingredients to Air Fryer Pita Pizza
- Pita Bread
- Pizza Sauce
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Pepperoni and other Toppings
If you like cooking from scratch, make my famous Ultimate Pizza Sauce. I like to make big batch and freeze in ice cube trays.
If you want to make your own Pizza Dough, my New York Style Pizza Dough is fabulous, so check it out some time.
Pepperoni and Cheese Pizza
- Take a spoon and swirl on some Pizza Sauce. Add the cheese and the Pepperoni.
- As I do on my Classic Margherita Pizza, lightly drizzle a bit of Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a circle over the Mozzarella Cheese.
- You will notice that I use sliced Mozzarella Cheese, rather than grated. It’s just my preference; use whatever you like.
You can even omit the Extra Virgin Olive Oil if you like, but it gives the pizza a really nice flavor.
Onions and Fresh Garlic Pizza
- Onion and Fresh Garlic are my Pizza toppings of choice.
- When I make my Classic Margherita Pizza, I have to be careful not to get any Onions on the hubs side. Somehow, they always migrate.
- Make sure to slice the Onions very thin, so that they will cook and not be crunchy. I put them and the Minced Garlic on under the Cheese, so that the Garlic won’t get burnt.
- Lightly drizzle a bit of Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a circle over the Mozzarella Cheese.
When making real, honest to goodness, Pizza, you need a very hot oven. Pizza only needs a few minutes to cook. In the Air Fryer and with Pita Bread, we need a lower temperature for a longer time to give the Pita a chance to warm up and not burn, since it is already cooked.
The Toppings will have a chance to cook through and the Cheese will become bubbly. The Air Fryer 6 Minute Pita Bread Cheese Pizza, will be done in just 6 minutes.
Air Fryers tend to cook quicker than ovens, I have found and different brands of Air Fryers cook different from each other.
The timing for the Phillips Air Fryer and the Ultrean 8.5 Quart Air Fryer, seem to be the same and appear to cook quicker than other Brands.
Therefore, keep an eye on the Pizza, as yours might be done in 5 minutes, or it may be 7 minutes.
So that the Cheese and Toppings don’t fly all over the place, use a Short Legged Trivet to keep things in place.

Would like to try your Pita Pizza recipe but I can’t have anything tomato based, can you recommend a white sauce that would work?
Angie says
Why do you put a trivet over pita bread pizza
Lulu says
If I use shredded mozzarella cheese will this fly around in the air fryer?

Hi. This looks delish. What size pita? And how do you get it out of the air fryer w/o burning yourself?
David Hersher says
For pizza try this:
1 cup self rising flour ( plus more, if needed, for kneading )
1 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
That’s it.
I precook the dough for 5 minutes 380 F ( spray with cooking spray )
then flip dough and cook 5 more minutes
Then top and cook until toppings are hot and cheese is melted.
You won’t believe how good!

Air fryer pizza is the best. I love it and keep the ingredients on hand because it is delicious and quick. Two minutes to throw together and 7 minutes to OMG Yum! I use the Garlic Naan bread from Walmart and use very thin sliced pepperoni which I stick under the cheese to keep it from becoming airborne! So good, so fast! In my book that is a win win!

I don’t have a metal trivet, do l really need to use one?
Nancy Riddel says
I made this today and it was a big hit! Thank you for this delicious and easy pizza recipe!

I have been making these for a few weeks before I saw them on your site. I love pizza but after having a heart attack, I have really been watching my sodium. Regular pizza is loaded with sodium. Pita bread is fairly low and I have found a fairly low sodium sauce. Love these and so much healthier.

Where do I find this trivet?
Jean Lunt says
Looks delicious! Would it work with using only 1/2 pita (like splitting it to stuff only completely take off the top)so the crust is thinner and it has less calories? Just looking for calorie savings. Or would it be too thin to crisp up?
jassonkna says
So nice!
Shirley says
Any hints on how to remove from fryer without messing up pizza or burning hands?
lois says
Do you need the trivet?
Jill says
Yes, otherwise the toppings will fly around. Jill
April says
These are so easy once you have all your toppings ready, thanks for the recipe!
Kathi says
Why do you have to put a trivet on it?? What’s the purpose??
Titan Tyler says
the air might make it flop around. I use 3 tooth pics at an angle

Looks amazing! Where or what can you use in place of trivit? Is this something I can get at Bed,Bath and Beyond or is it specifically designed for airfryer? ? Your site is the BEST! You give great simplistic tips, thanks
Jill says
Sonya~
The trivet I use, is what I use in my pressure cooker. So glad you like my site. Jill
Suzanne says
Great! Thanks!

This looks pretty good. Another tool that works really well for this is the Presto Pizzazz, my go-to pizza and cheese crisp machine.
